now truly a senior...
Oh yea, I turned 60 yesterday. Today I got my 60+ Program form from the University of Akron where I can audit any class for free if there is room. I went online and checked out the course listings for the spring term. I am drooling. Probably will wind up in politcal science or history to start. The state helped me to remember that I was now a senior by sending me unsolicited my "Golden Buckeye" card. Not really depressing. More of a surprise.I got the ultimate birthday gift for someone entering his senior years...a new furnace! And it works great. So, though my circulation may not be as good as it was in the coming years, I won't be cold! (unless the power grid shuts down and climate change comes about...maybe I better start taking some environmental studies courses too.)Labels: life
I took time away
If anyone is still around trying to read this blog...I wound up taking time away, obviously. Not sure why. Just got busy with some other things like:
- new online discussion group called "Local UCC Transformation" helping clergy and lay folks of the United Church of Christ to focus on transforming their vision and mission as a church to the realities of the world as it is around them now. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/localucctransformation/
- getting two daughters ready for high school (senior and freshman) as well as soccer practice (including two weeks of "two a day" practices and already 3 matches) and tennis practice already 5 matches...before school starts today.
- starting up on facebook.com with two specific groups
Fairlawn West
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5017153654
Akron Sabbath Community/Church
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=4584966661
- doing more working out physically!!! I find it is an essential part of my spiritual life to do this.
- yesterday serving as a foreman on a jury which found a man not guilty of something he probably did, but which had some omissions and lapses and serious questions about what the police did.
- and probably nothing to share.
