This has been a long, snowy, cold winter. I love the snow, but I find my body starting to feeling like it is slowly being dragged closer to the ground. This has an impact on my capability as a disciple. I think there are times to not fight it, but live with it. Take a respite. Realize that environment and climate do play a part in our life and mission. Martha and I are headed out to Len Sweet's http://leonardsweet.com Advance on Orcas Island in the Puget Sound. In a small way, this will be PART of the honeymoon we never had 14 years ago. We all need time away not just to be away, but to refocus, retreat, reenergize and then to advance. In these days of great social and international tension, self-care is vital for each one of us. Not self-centeredness, but self-care which allows us to reach out beyond ourselves.
